Been on vacation, find out exactly where. (Oh and got a haircut.)

Starting with the most uninteresting: I pulverized my ‘longest hair’ record by simply not visiting the hairdresser’s ever since my last post. That said, I finally got up and my hair cut today. On to more interesting things:

About a month ago, I went on vacation to Florida in the US with a bunch of friends, and you can check out the pictures from the trip in the gallery. While down there, I also happened to run a GPS tracking application on my mobile phone, the result of which is a bunch of GPS tracks, showing you where I’ve been. So without further ado, here’s the tracks. (Note: This page will stress your browser and load a bit, so only click on the ‘more’ link if you’re prepared to handle it.)

I actually forgot to turn on the tracker here, thus the track doesn’t start at the Hotel where we left.

If you zoom in on the port, you’ll see that our boat drove a few loops there. The reason for that was that a Jetski tried to jump the wake of our boat but collided with another one, forcing us to stop and turn around to make sure everything was OK. (The accident actually looked pretty bad but other boats were quick to respond and pick up the injured. We never found out what their fate was though.)

Just another stroll along Duval Street on New Year’s Eve:

GPS reception went haywire at the beginning, not sure why.

With another fluke of the GPS reception at the start.

Power adventure tour on the board and a visit to a Cuban restaurant:
Power adventure tour on the board and a visit to a Cuban restaurant
More GPS hiccups, one of them, around our hotel pool, really big. The power adventure tour took us out south to go snorkling, and then went north where we went parasailing, riding a banana boat and Jet Skis. I didn’t have my mobile phone in my pocket, so it stayed static with the boat while we did that. The Cuban restaurant is north east of Duval on Catherine and Margaret street.

Travelling back from Key West to South Beach, Miami:
Travelling back from Key West to South Beach, Miami
Forgot to turn on the tracker at the beginning again, and if you follow the track, you’ll see us get off the highway to stop at an outlet mall and at a Best Buy. The track also got messed up again around our hotel.

Taking a walk on the beach, through a pedestrian zone, to a holocause memorial and back to the hotel:

That straight line is another GPS messup where my phone lost the signal and suddently regained it.

My phone didn’t like us sitting in that restaurant I guess, another GPS ‘star’.

Visiting Little Havana and South Beach classics:

Started the track late again while on the bus, didn’t get a signal there anyway. We got to Little Havana after some walking, then went North from there by bus to visit South Beach classics (on the way to which I lost my BlackBerry holster :( ) and then returned with a taxi (the straight line ’cause my phone lost the GPS signal again on that trip).
